The on-line test of the ionosphere using the adaptive ionospheric model and based on total electron content

The paper has proposed the method of the obtaining of the spatial distribution of the electron concentration in the ionosphere based on total electron content data and the empiric ionospheric model. The method allows to analyse the near-Earth space in the observed region in near-real time.

Spaced resolution of latitudinal profiles of vertical electron content

The paper considers the influence of the height of recalculation of the total electron content to the vertical electron content (VEC) on the accuracy of determination of the regions of electron concentration irregularities. The method of spaced receiving of the navigation satellite signals allows to increase the accuracy of finding the electron concentration structures' position in the ionosphere and gives more detail description of these structures.

Strong earthquakes and their influence on the polar lower ionosphere

In the work the authors have investigated how the variations of the F2-layer electron density and temperature numerically calculated for the period of April 15-20, 2002 including two geomagnetic storms depend on the Рћ+ + N2 reaction rate taking into account the vibrationally excited molecular nitrogen. The results of numerical calculations performed using the Upper Atmosphere Model have been compared with the observation data obtained by the incoherent scatter radars. The conclusion has been made that ignoring the vibrationally excited molecular nitrogen by the numerical calculations worsens the agreement of model versions both with the observation data and with each other.

Winter polar stratospheric clouds of 2010 in the high latitudes

Results of photographic observations of polar stratospheric (nacreous or mother-of-pearl) clouds above Murmansk (Russia) during January-February 2010 have been presented. Heights of the stratospheric clouds have been defined, conditions of their formation and their impact on the total ozone content have been discussed.
